Store helps OCD sufferer back to work

AFTER years of suffering from obsessive-Compulsive disorder (OCD), one woman in Sheffield has overcome the condition and returned to work.

Louise Parkin, from Manor Park, had been unemployed for several years before enrolling on the Marks & Start programme run by Marks & Spencer, which aims to provide better access to employment for people including the long-term unemployed.

The scheme includes work placements in Marks & Spencer stores, and working at the branch in Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, is said to have played a “crucial” role in restoring Ms Parkin’s confidence.

As a result, she has now been taken on as a permanent member of staff.

The 33-year-old said: “My life has changed beyond all recognition thanks to Marks & Start.

“I have more confidence, I absolutely love my job and I have new friends.”

Section manager Hedley Corney added: “Louise made an immediate impression. We knew that with the right support she would have all the qualities we value in our colleagues.”
