Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Susanna Reid displayed a “lack of charm” that left most of her fellow contestants “bewildered”, according to former Bond girl Fiona Fullerton.

Along with actress Natalie Gumede, the BBC Breakfast presenter lost out on the glitterball trophy to model Abbey Clancy in Saturday night’s live final.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Fullerton, who danced with Strictly veteran Anton Du Beke in the latest series of the BBC show, said Reid “approached this competition with a PR campaign driven with military precision”.

The actress was writing about the fun she had watching the live final in host Tess Daly’s dressing room with the other celebrities who were also voted off earlier in the series.

After expressing admiration and praise for the “exquisite” Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the first to be voted out of the final, and “towering talent” Gumede, Fullerton wrote about Reid, who was partnered with Kevin Clifton, from Grimsby.

She wrote: “There was definitely an Obama-style use of social media and a lack of charm that left most of us bewildered.”
