Striking Tesco drivers to reveal their next move

UNION officials representing Tesco lorry drivers who have been taking industrial action in a row over jobs are expected to make an announcement on further strikes today.

Members of Unite voted to walk out of the supermarket giant’s distribution depot in Doncaster last week after it was transferred to national haulage contractor Eddie Stobart.

Talks took place yesterday in a bid to avert further stoppages, but a new strike is planned for later this week if the drivers’ concerns over redundancies are not dealt with by the firm.

Almost 200 drivers are employed at the depot, in Middle Bank, and claim their jobs, pay and conditions are under threat.
