Student wellbeing champion sets off on university tour.

A 24-year-old Leeds University graduate is setting off on a nationwide campaign tour tomorrow, with the aim of inspiring healthy minds and confidence among his fellow students.

Philosophy and Management graduate Ed Pinkney will be setting off in his VW camper to visit more than 15 universities over the next month, to spread the word about the Mental Wealth Project.

Ed, who is now studying a part-time course in counselling at Leeds, launched the project in 2009, aimed at building a network of student-led initiatives to promote positive wellbeing on universities campuses across the UK.

Since then, a committee made up of university students across the UK has been established. These students act as ambassadors of the project and help to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and keeping happy on campus.

Ed will be visiting members of these committees and further promoting his project to students and staff on campuses around the UK including Southampton, Manchester, Cardiff, Middlesbrough and St Andrews over the next month.

The information, video interviews and pictures he gathers during the tour will be used in an exhibition back at Leeds University, where the tour will conclude on March 10.

Ed said: "This is not just about encouraging healthier minds, but also about inspiring young people to become more confident about who they are and about what they can do if they put their minds to it."

He added: "On the tour we are going to be engaging students by asking them what mental health means for them and how they make themselves happy.

"We'll be interviewing students, campaigning and filming along the route. We'll take those ideas with us and share them with others on campuses across the country and back in Leeds."
