Summer festival of music and arts

A SUMMER music and arts festival, organised by Sheffield University's music department and Sheffield Cathedral, will open at the cathedral on Thursday, June 3.

The festival will include a talk from poet Ian McMillan, a performance from the Impressions Jazz Quintet, and an evening of silent horror films with improvised organ accompaniment. A talk by composer Gabriel Jackson and performances from three cathedral choirs will end the festival on June 12.

Stewart Campbell, festival director and concerts manager for the university, said: "I'm thrilled that we've been able to continue the creative partnership between the two institutions. This year's programme of events encompasses many different art forms, combined with several inspirational performers."
