Sumo show to throw safety out of window

A CHARITY is going out of its way to mock “health and safety culture” by staging a sumo wrestling show for amateurs.

Members of Leeds community development charity Together for Peace are inviting the public to join them for Sue Me! Sumo Wrestling, as part of the city’s annual Light Night tomorrow which sees Leeds city centre transformed through arts events.

Participants wearing hard hats and high-visibility jackets will have to navigate a maze and obstacle course, and then enjoy a bout of sumo wrestling.

Ed Carlisle, 32, of Together for Peace, said the health and safety culture was well-intentioned but had become overblown.

Sue Me! Sumo Wrestling will take place tomorrow at The Round Foundry Media Centre, Foundry Street, Holbeck Urban Village, from 5pm-10pm.

For more information contact Ed Carlisle on 07738 921277.
