A woman has lost half her body weight after being told she was too big for a funfair ride.

Clair Dodd dropped eight dress sizes and slimmed down from 24 to 11 stone after being humiliated at a theme park.

The mother-of-two said: “I sat in a ride at the theme park and they couldn’t close the harness. I can laugh about it now but it was so embarrassing.”

Mrs Dodd, 31, shed the weight after starting to eat three balanced meals a day to replace the takeaways she used to consume during the evening.

The childcare assessor, of Halifax, would eat take-away pizza every other night and spent 40 a week on takeaways to devour with her husband Michael, 44, once her young sons had gone to bed.

But she lost two stone in just a month by cutting down on her sugary snacks and exercising at home, before joining a gym to help her shift the rest of the weight.

During an intensive month of training, she visited a personal trainer five days a week for an hour.

Mrs Dodd, who slimmed down to a size 12, said: “My whole life has changed. I

I just didn’t have the confidence to do anything about it. Now I love my new life.”

She was nominated for a Fitness First New You Achievement Award.
