Super sloop home after 700 miles

After fighting her way through a force eight gale off Grimsby this week, the Humber super sloop Spider T has arrived home after a month-long 700-mile voyage to the Arbroath Seafest.

The vessel, built at a New Holland shipyard in 1926 and restored to sail in 2007, acted as an ambassador for National Historic Ships after finishing as runner-up in the heritage organisation’s Flagship of the Year Competition. Since leaving its base on the Stainforth to Keadby Canal on July 30, the vessel has visited 10 ports – and met up with renowned actor Timothy Spall while at the Humber Cruising Association in Grimsby.
