Supper stroll puts heritage on menu with guided tour of city

People are being encouraged to take a guided walk that offers the opportunity to see Leeds City Centre in a new light.

The 90-minute evening walks are followed by supper in Leeds Civic Trust’s Heritage and Design Centre in the Calls.

The series of six guided walks will give people a chance to enjoy the city’s Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian Buildings, the waterfront and musical history.

Kevin Grady, Trust director, said: “These guided supper walks are a real eye-opener revealing both the fascinating history of our city, and introducing people to the rapid change which it is undergoing.”

The walks, organised by the Trust, begin tomorrow with a look at Georgian Leeds; while on Wednesday, May 16, walkers will learn about Victorian Leeds and on Tuesday, May 22 there will be a chance to learn about the Edwardian era.

On June 7 there is a chance to wander around Holbeck Urban Village – which is credited as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution in Leeds.

On June 14 walkers will be able to learn about Leeds Waterfront and the final talk, on June 26, will look at the musical associations of the city centre.

The price of the walks is £10.00 including supper.

Supper Walks need to be booked in advance by calling 0113 243 9594.
