Support officers save sick man's life

TWO off-duty officers saved a seriously ill man's life when they found him slumped in his car.

The Police Community Support Officers found Malcolm Richardson in the car park at the Tesco store in Hall Road, Hull.

Rachel Matthews and Michelle Greenfield spotted Mr Richardson's blue Ford Focus parked in a secluded part of the car park, and found the door open with the keys in the ignition.

The pair who had met up to go shopping could see he was seriously unwell and called an ambulance.

Later it turned out the 67-year-old had dangerously low blood sugar levels and needed urgent medical treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.

PCSO Matthews said: "As we drove into the supermarket car park we noticed a vehicle which appeared to have been abandoned. We immediately realised that there was something not quite right.

"To our surprise, we discovered a man who looked incredibly ill."
