Survey brings Peak park 'action plan'

VIEWS gathered through a survey of people in the Peak District are set to be put into an "action plan" to improve ways of working with those who live in the national park.

In July last year, the Peak District National Park Authority surveyed 2,700 households to ask them their opinions on the authority’s services.

Eighty-nine per cent of respondents said the facilities for outdoor recreation in the national park are “good.” However, 43 per cent said they thought the authority didn’t make good planning decisions and just 28 per cent said they thought it supported local businesses.

As a result of that feedback, the new “action plan” has been drawn up and is set to be approved at a meeting on Friday.

Jim Dixon, chief executive of the Peak District National Park Authority, said: “It is important that national park communities continue to change if they are to remain vibrant places to live and work. We are always keen to hear views about improving ways of working with local people .

“I would like to thank the residents that responded to our survey as the information they have given will be used as we develop our future plans. This will make us better at listening and responding to the issues that matter to them.”
