Suspect hunted after student is stabbed to death

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a student in Bradford have released details of a man they urgently want to trace.

Police discovered the body of the 19-year-old victim, who has not been named, at the house where he lived in Grantham Road, after they were called to reports of an assault at 9.17pm on Friday.

A post-mortem examination carried out yesterday showed he died from multiple stab wounds.

A 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were also found to have been assaulted at the house.

The man, who had been stabbed, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.

The woman, who had been physically assaulted, was treated at hospital and later released.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in London on Saturday in connection with the incident and has been transported back to West Yorkshire where he remained in custody yesterday.

Detectives are urgently appealing for information to help them trace 20-year-old Reaben Borhan Kareem.

Detective Superintendent Steve Payne, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We urgently want to trace Mr Kareem to speak to him in connection with this incident.

“It is vitally important that anyone who has seen a man matching his description or anyone who has any information as to his whereabouts gets in touch with us immediately.

“Anyone who sees him should not approach him and should contact the police immediately.”

Police have released a photograph of Mr Kareem, who is of Iraqi Kurd origin and speaks Kurdish and English.

He is described as being about 5ft 10ins, with short, gelled, greasy hair, acne on his face, and a prominent nose.
