FOR the connoisseur, it is said to be the equivalent of sipping a classic Beaujolais or Bordeaux.

The tasting of top quality chocolate has been compared to the art of drinking fine wine, and customers at Yorkshire’s famous Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms will be able to find out about the intricacies throughout this week.

The firm’s chocolate experts, including Kirsty Mitchison, above, will be at the tea rooms in Harrogate, York, Northallerton and Ilkley to give customers a few hints on getting the most out of their confectionery.

The visits are part of the celebrations for the national Chocolate Week which started on Monday, and will also feature tastings, promotions and competitions. Bettys Craft Bakery has been hand-crafting chocolate for more than 90 years.
