Swimming pool opening hours reduced in cuts
Swimming hours are to be reduced at pools in the Wakefield district as part of cost-cutting plans.
Wakefield Council has been consulting on options, which will result in a saving of £100,000.
As a result, from April 2, Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton and Pontefract pools will open an hour earlier and shut at 9.30pm.
On Sundays Castleford, Normanton and Pontefract will shut at 2.30pm and Featherstone at 1pm. Minsthorpe will reduce hours on a Sunday and reduce the availability of the learner pool on three days.
