Syndicate wins £76,000 in Lottery draw

A LOTTERY win is just what the doctor ordered for a syndicate from a medical supplies company in Leeds.

The syndicate of seven from Medasil (Surgical) Ltd in Leeds won 76,112 by matching five numbers plus the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on August 25.

The syndicate has been been playing together since 2008 and plays the Lottery on both the Wednesday and Saturday night draws.

Syndicate leader Stephen Armitage, 62, and colleague Sean Farrelly, 57, are both directors of Medasil (Surgical) Ltd, which manufactures medical products and is based in Hunslet Road, Leeds.

The remainder of the syndicate work in the office, or dispatch and packing.

The other syndicate members are Kathleen Prust, Linda Foster, Claire Kirk and Jean Mitchell. The seventh member of the syndicate, a woman, did not want to go public with her win.

Mr Armitage, who is married and has three sons, said he planned to spend some of the winnings during a holiday he had booked before the win.

"It's amazing to win this money and we're certainly going to spoil ourselves with a few extra treats on holiday. The syndicate has got four numbers before on a few occasions, but this win is fantastic news for everyone. The holiday is a nice chance to relax and decide how we're going to spend our winnings."

His colleague plans to spend some of the cash on extras for his new car.

Mr Farrelly said: "I've got a new car on order but this win will allow me to get a few of the extras added as a treat, so I'm looking forward to taking the car out for a spin when I get it."

The winning numbers from the Lotto draw on Wednesday August 25 were 05, 10, 12, 17, 28, 30 and the bonus ball was 47. The ticket was bought at the Sainsbury store in Dewsbury Road, Wakefield.
