Tailor-made for World Cup success (fingers crossed)

England's World Cup squad will be looking dapper in suits made from fabric woven in Yorkshire.

From the tallest – Peter Crouch at 6ft 7ins – to diminutive Leeds-born Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips (both 5ft 5ins), the squad will be immaculately dressed in 100 per cent wool fabric from family-run Alfred Brown (Worsted Mills), of Bramley, Leeds.

The official Football Association suits have been created to specifications set by manager Fabio Capello, according to official tailor Marks & Spencer, which is launching the suits – also made with Leeds fabric – in its stores today. Suit designer, Savile Row tailor Timothy Everest, said: "We wanted the look not to detract from the team's goal, but to give them something that was representative of modern British style whilst feeling elegant and comfortable."

Ian Brown, joint managing director at Alfred Brown, said: "It is a very prestigious order and we are delighted to be associated with it."

Official FA suits can be picked up from M&S stores for 120 (jacket), 79 for the trousers and waistcoat 35.
