Taken under the RAF’s wing ...

VISITORS used the wing of an A400M as a convenient shelter during the official naming ceremony for the RAF’s future transport aircraft at the annual Royal International Air Tatoo, at RAF Fulford in Gloucestershire.

The new aircraft may represent the future of the service, but visitors over the weekend will get a chance to see historic aircraft alongside today’s fighting aeroplanes.

The star of the show is the huge black flying wing, B2 ‘Stealth’ bomber, each one costing the US air force over $2bn.

The air show continues today and organisers expect that up to 138,000 people will visit by the end of the weekend.

More than 250 aircraft have been gathered at the airbase for the event, which is said to be the world’s largest military air show.

The air show is supported by some of the world’s leading aerospace companies.
