Talent judge Holden to star in Shrek musical

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden is to put her own singing and dancing skills under scrutiny, by starring in Shrek The Musical.

The 39-year-old actress, will play leading lady Princess Fiona – the part voiced by Hollywood's Cameron Diaz in the hit films – when the show opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, in London's West End, in May next year.

Holden has previously appeared in several West End musicals and played the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2003, for which she was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Comedian Richard Blackwood has been cast as ogre Shrek's eager sidekick Donkey in the production.
