Taste of the exotic at service

Fire-eaters and African dancers will bring a touch of drama when churchgoers meet for an open-air act of worship.

Thousands of people from churches and parishes across the Wakefield Diocese are expected to gather in fields at the National Trust property, Nostell Priory, on Sunday.

The Bishop of Wakefield Stephen Platten said: "This is a great opportunity for us to meet together as a diocese to worship God, to give thanks for all that he is doing for us and to celebrate our common life together."

The Eucharist service starts at 2.30pm when the Archbishop of Wales will preach.

Other events include a prayer tent, dancing, singing, fire-eaters, African theatre group Grassroots and drumming.
