Ronson was in the independent record shop as part of his tour to promote the release of his new album Record Collection and ahead of his gig at the Leeds O2 Academy yesterday evening.

Ronson said he had always loved spending time in record shops and discovering new artists and tracks.

“Even before I was a DJ I was always a kind of music nerd,” he said yesterday.

During his visit to Jumbo Records, Ronson served on the tills as well as providing customers and fans with handpicked music suggestions.

Among the fans queuing to see him was Vicki Roper, of Barnsley, who said it was “fantastic” to meet him. “I am a big fan. I have got all the albums and we are going to the gig. He’s such a really nice guy.

“He just asked if we were looking forward to going to the gig and thanked us for coming along,” she added.

Earlier the store’s Adam Gillison said: “He’s provided a long list of stuff he wants us to have ready for customers to buy.

“Ronson’s record company approached us saying he wanted to do something that would help independent stores like us.”

A limited edition version of his new album was also available in Jumbo Records.
