Taste of summer for marathon

Britain will catch a glimpse of summer this weekend as forecasters predicted the warmest temperatures of the year.

The mercury is expected to reach 21C in the South-East and London today and tomorrow, when thousands of runners will take part in the Virgin London Marathon.

The rest of the country will enjoy mostly fine but cooler weather tomorrow, with temperatures ranging between 9C and 12C in Scotland, 14C to 17C in northern England and Wales and 16C to 19C in the South.

On Sunday it will feel more humid as a band of cloud pushes east across the country, bringing showers and some longer spells of rain.
