Tea supplier steams in

ONE of the best loved children’s books ever written proved the inspiration for the launch of a new deal yesterday between the world’s most popular heritage railway and a Yorkshire tea company.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway organised the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – to mark the deal. The Northallerton-based Mad Hatter Tea Company will be the supplier for the 100,000 cups of tea which are drunk by passengers and staff on the line each year. Against a backdrop of baby steam engine Joem, sisters Emily Coates as the Mad Hatter and Laura Coates as Alice enjoy the tea party on the platform at Grosmont Station.
