Teachers face internet child porn charges

Two male teachers have been charged with downloading indecent images of children, police said yesterday.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "Officers from the child online safeguarding team within the public protection unit charged the men yesterday at a police station in Solihull.

"A 37-year-old man from Monkspath, Solihull, is accused of downloading indecent images of children from the internet. He was suspended from his teaching role once these allegations came to light.

"In a separate investigation, a 43-year-old man, also from Monkspath, faces charges of downloading indecent images of children from the internet.

"In addition he faces allegations he used computer equipment to alter innocent images of children to make them indecent.

"Again, he was suspended immediately following the nature of the allegations."

Both men were released on police bail to appear before magistrates in Solihull on November 30, police said.
