Teachers set to learn from most enterprising colleagues

TEACHERS from Bradford are hoping to learn from another education authority in the region that has successfully introduced enterprise as a subject for children as young as four.

Primary school teachers from the city will visit Rotherham tomorrow – as the South Yorkshire town has been named as the most enterprising place in the country.

It earned the accolade for its Rotherham Ready campaign which gave primary school teachers extra training to be able to deliver lessons on the importance of business.

The visit has been organised as part of Bradford's step up enterprise campaign. Teachers from Russell Hall primary, St Joseph's primary, Lidget Green primary and Our Lady and St Brendan's primary in Bradford will visit Rotherham schools.

Bradford Council's executive member for children and young people's services Councillor Ralph Berry said: "Identifying and encouraging business and employable skills at a young age is essential for developing the business leaders of the future. This is a key aspect of the district's 'b someone' campaign – helping children and young people to succeed, improve their skills and fulfil their potential."
