THE A-Team van was once as unmistakable as the American TV show’s characters.

With its distinctive red and black livery, the 1983 GMC Chevrolet van also features, a wall of screens, a minibar and an impressive sound system – and these days it can be spotted on the roads of Leeds, rather than Los Angeles.

Van owner Andy “Faceman” Everson said: “This is one of the original GMCs made for the TV series.

“I actually bought it off a friend, but it’s come from Universal Studios who had six made.

“There were three for stunts, which were pretty much destroyed, and three for action racing.”

Mr Everson, 41, who works at MB Motor Group in Wortley, Leeds, now runs the left-hand-drive automatic as part of his Limelight Limousine business.

The original A-team starring ex-bouncer Mr T as B.A.Baracus and George Peppard as Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith was hugely popular in the 1980s.

This summer, a film based on the TV series was released, with actor Liam Neeson playing Hannibal, creating a new army of fans and rekindling interest in the original show.

The van was brought to the UK from Universal by a company in Liverpool and came with authentication certificates.
