Teenager arrested over 2008 ‘mistaken identity’ killing of Leeds dad Adam Chadwick

DETECTIVES hunting the killer of a young father in Yorkshire yesterday arrested a man.

Adam Chadwick, 20, was visiting his sister at Clifton Mount in Harehills, Leeds, on June 24 2008 when a woman and three men came to the door at 10.40pm and following a disturbance he was shot.

He died from his injuries two days later.

Last night a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said a man aged 19 had been arrested yesterday morning in connection with the incident.

The spokesman said yesterday: “Police investigating the murder of Adam Chadwick, 20, arrested a 19-year-old man this morning.

“The man, who is from the Leeds area, was arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery and remains in police custody.”

Detectives have previously said Mr Chadwick, 20, of Seacroft in Leeds, could have been shot as a result of mistaken identity as he visited his sister Gemma at her home in Harehills.

The same woman had earlier been knocking at doors in the area asking for someone called Michelle.

A reconstruction of the incident was shown on BBC’s Crimewatch programme.

Recently a sports fund was launched in Mr Chadwick’s memory and almost £700 was raised for the Adam Chadwick Fund for Sport, set up by his parents Martin and Jackie Chadwick and Adam’s old club, Armley Juniors, to organise sports activities for youngsters from across the city.

Mr Chadwick, who had a young daughter, Ruby, was a gifted football and rugby player and a former Leeds United ballboy.
