Teenager detainedfor assisting suicide

A youth has been sentenced to eight months home detention in Christchurch, New Zealand, after he helped another teenager take his own life.

Dillon Gargett, 17, was accused of providing Ben Dowdell, 16, with equipment to take his life and helping him prepare two suicide attempts. He died on the second one.

Both youths apparently suffered depressive illnesses.
