Temple Newsam farm reopens

Temple Newsam's Home Farm has now reopened to the public after the recent fire.

The popular visitor attraction is once again open for the business after the blaze which caused significant damage to one of the outlying barns.

The affected barn is currently being cleaned up but is away from the areas open to the public so the site has been declared safe to reopen.

Home Farm is home to rare-breed cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits with a host of new arrivals expected in the run-up to Easter.

All of the animals affected by the fire have been given a clean bill of health and there were no injuries suffered.

Leeds City Council executive member for Leisure Councillor Adam Ogilvie said:

"We have been the all-clear to reopen Home Farm and it is perfectly safe for visitors to once again come and see the animals.

"We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped to contain the fire especially the quick-thinking and bravery of those first on the scene and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service who worked tirelessly to minimise the damage caused."
