Ten arrested during EDL march in Hull

TEN people were arrested when trouble flared during an English Defence League march in Hull.

Police said about 75 people took part in the march along Spring Bank, which was one of several organised by the EDL on Saturday.

The men arrested are not thought to have been part of the march and were held for public order-related offences when a “small disturbance” happened just after 1.15pm.

Eight were released without charge, while a man aged 19 received a police caution for possession of a class B drug, and a 23-year-old was charged with possession of an offensive weapon in public.

He is due to appear before magistrates on Thursday.

Chief Supt Paul Cunningham said: “The policing operation was successful and normality was restored relatively quickly.”
