PROPERTY investment and development company Town Centre Securities has signed its first new tenant for the New Front leisure scheme at the Merrion Centre in Leeds.

Yorkshire-based gym operator Pure Gym will build its second gym in Leeds city centre on Merrion Way, next to the Leeds Arena. Together with the largest unit, already let to existing tenant 1st Bowl, 64 per cent of the available retail space has been secured. There are eight new units remaining.

Helen Beckett, associate director for Leeds-based Town Centre Securities, said: “New Front is in a fantastic location, right next to Leeds Arena in a busy part of Leeds city centre, which is popular with shoppers, students and office workers.

“Together with the arena development, we are going to transform this part of the city, injecting new vibrancy and vitality into the area and creating up to 200 new jobs.”

Angela Crawshaw, property director for Pure Gym, said: “We are delighted to be opening another gym in Leeds at the New Front leisure development.”

The Merrion Centre’s New Front leisure development will see 80,000 sq ft of retail space created, as well as bars, cafes, restaurants and a gym along Merrion Way and Wade Lane.
