Tenor honoured to be invited to play role at Children of Courage

Classical Brit nominee Jonathan Ansell has been chosen as the voice of the awards, which recognise courageous children from across the county while raising money for charity. Tickets are already on sale for the gala awards dinner, which takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds in October.

Ansell said: “To have been asked to be the voice of this year’s Yorkshire Children Of Courage Awards is a huge honour.”

The awards, now in their fourth year, were set up by the St James’s Place Foundation, the charitable arm of the St James’s Place wealth management company. Since it began 22 years ago, the foundation has raised more than £34m for disadvantaged and disabled young people.

Ansell found fame as part of pop-opera group G4, who 
appeared on The X Factor in 2004. He went on to become an accomplished solo artist and will perform as part of the first World War centenary remembrance celebrations at Leeds’s City Varieties in November.

Stephen Mitchell, a representative of the St James’s Place Foundation Committee Leeds office, said: “He is an internationally 
renowned tenor and we are 
privileged to have him on 
board.”
