They are hoping to recruit a community choir of singers from Hull and the East Riding to perform songs including Que Sera Sera, working alongside professional actors.

The theatre’s artistic assistant, Ava Hunt, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to come together, sing some fabulous songs and perform with professional actors in a fantastic show that has been nominated for a major theatre award and had rave reviews.”

Desperate to be Doris will be staged at the theatre in Ferensway from January 26 to 29.

Recruitment is now under way for the community choir, who will meet for the first time on October 23.

Singers do not require any previous experience and do not need to be able to read music. But they will be expected to commit to a 10-week rehearsal period and attend all performances.
