At Leeds Crown Court yesterday, he admitted theft and three charges of misconduct in a public office. The offences took place between February 2010 and July last year.

Prosecutor Richard Walters said it was not known how much cash Hughes had taken but a figure of £3,840 could be proven.

Hughes is due to be sentenced on May 25. He was released on unconditional bail.
