Theft suspects held within two hours

THREE people were arrested within two hours of a report of lead being stolen from a shop in Hull.

The two men and a teenage boy were stopped by traffic officers from Humberside Police after a member of the public reported the theft from Elmbridge Parade just before midnight last Thursday.

A 42-year-old man and a 16-year-old were arrested of suspicion on theft and receiving stolen goods. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft, receiving stolen goods and possession of cannabis. All three were released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police are investigating reports that the men had tried to sell metal in the past using a van without a waste carrier’s licence. Sergeant Julian Hart, who is D Division’s Metal Theft Reduction Officer, praised the quick-thinking member of the public and urged people to report any suspicious activity.
