A WOMAN who befriended an elderly neighbour to apply for credit cards and store cards in her name has been told to sell her home to pay her victim back.

Susan Wiltshire, 61, of Neville Street in Cleethorpes, funded a family holiday with the money she had stolen from the neighbour.

She pleaded guilty to 12 charges of fraud and accruing and converting criminal property totalling about 28,132, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison last December.

However, a judge at Grimsby Crown Court has now given Wiltshire six months to repay nearly half the money from the 13,500 equity estimated to be in her home.

This will go to the victim and a compensation order to recover the full amount over a longer period was also made.

Lorraine Baines, senior financial investigator at Humberside Police, said: “Once a criminal conviction has been obtained our priority is always to recover as much money as possible and for it to be returned directly to the victims of crime as soon as possible. Susan Wiltshire has been given six months to allow her to sell her home and pay over all of the equity to her victim.”
