Thieves shoot off with paintball gear

A POLICE investigation has been launched after thieves escaped with hundreds of pounds of paint-balling gear during a raid in North Yorkshire.

More than £600 worth of equipment, including a replica MP-5 paintball gun, paintballs and smoke grenades, was taken after a parked van was broken into in Selby.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police are reviewing closed circuit television footage and have conducted house-to-house inquiries in an attempt to track down the offenders.

The theft happened at some point overnight between Sunday and Monday while the white Citroen Dispatch van was parked at the rear of Pond Street.

PC Craig Davies, who is involved in the inquiry, said: “The van was parked in a secluded area, however someone may have seen or heard something suspicious around the time of the theft.

“I would appeal to anyone who has information that can help the investigation, or has been offered any paintballing equipment for sale recently, to contact the police.”
