The Thin Blue Line

The Thin Blue Line stretched through a Yorkshire market town as more than a dozen student bobbies took to the streets for the first time.

North Yorkshire Police were out in force when 13 officers made Northallerton High Street the safest place in Britain as they practised nearly-learned crime-fighting skills.

The students, who are in their 17th week of training, dealt with various scenarios including anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and missing people.

It was the first time they had put on their uniforms to meet the public. Jack Woodhams, Community Engagement Co-ordinator for North Yorkshire Police said: "The students are due to pass out next week before being sent to various locations throughout the North Yorkshire. This gave them an opportunity to put what they have learned in their training sessions into practice before they begin the next stage of their career as part of their local Safer Neighbourhood Team."
