Three arrested over murder of Huddersfield shopkeeper

OFFICERS investigating the death of Huddersfield shopkeeper Gurmail Singh have made three arrests.

A 17-year-old male was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and robbery from an address in the Sheepridge area of Huddersfield, and this morning a 20-year-old man from Crosland Moor and a 17-year-old male from the Fartown area were arrested on suspicion of murder.

All three are in custody and will be interviewed by officers from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

Mr Singh suffered serious head injuries at his shop in the Cowcliffe area of the town last Saturday evening and died in hospital the following morning.

A 17-year-old male from the Huddersfield area arrested earlier has now been charged with robbery in relation to an incident at Mr Singh's shop - Cowcliffe Convenience Store - on Thursday, February 18. He will appear before Huddersfield Magistrates Court on Monday.

Two other men, aged 18 and 17, arrested last week have been released without charge
