Three held over death of woman near flats

POLICE have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a woman near Sheffield’s Park Hill flats.

The body of a 34-year-old woman was found in Claywood Road, opposite the iconic flats, in the early hours of Friday.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives continue to question a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman found in Claywood Road.

“In addition, police have arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man on suspicion of murder in connection with the death.”

Investigations into the cause of the woman’s death are still being carried out by officers.

The police spokesman added: “House-to-house enquiries and forensic examinations continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020.”

The scene where the woman’s body is found is close to both Park Hill flats, which are currently the focus of a huge regeneration project by developer Urban Splash, and the new South Street Park, which is due to have its official opening this week.
