Three hunted after raid on village shop

ARMED robbers brandishing a gun and a knife got away with cash, bottles of alcohol and cigarettes after staging an early morning raid on a village shop.

Police said the gang of three men walked into the Costcutter store in Station Road, Kiveton Park, Rotherham, at about 7.45am on Wednesday and threatened an assistant.

A spokesman said: “All three had the hoods of their tops up and their faces covered. It is believed they may have left in a large, dark coloured vehicle, possibly a Vauxhall Vectra, with an 03 registration plate.

“There were no injuries sustained by anyone during the incident.”

All three men were described as being of a thin build and in their late teens to early 20s.

They a varied in height, one was approximately 6ft 2ins, the second about 5ft 8ins and the third about 5ft 4ins tall.

It is believed the three men may have been loitering near the railway bridge on Station Road just before the incident, and police urged anyone with information on their identity to come forward.
