Three Leeds Utd fans injured in hit-and-run

THREE people were injured in a hit-and-run road incident following Leeds United’s game at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Police said the men were thought to be Leeds fans who were walking to Ipswich train station.

One of the men, in his late 40s, suffered what were yesterday described as potentially life-changing head injuries.

Another suffered a fractured back that will require surgery while the third escaped with swelling to one of his knees.

A spokesman for the Suffolk Constabulary said the car that struck the men failed to stop at the scene.

A vehicle was later found in the Ipswich area and a man arrested.

The indicent happened at about 5pm on Princes Street in the centre of Ipswich, a short distance from Town’s Portman Road ground.
