Three rescue from house fire

Three adults had to be rescue from their first floor bedroom after a fire broke out in the basement of their house in Emley.

Fire crews were called to the scene out Out Lane, Emley shortly after 1am today.

A spokesman said three fire engines attended from Skelmanthorpe, Emley and Wakefield.

A spokesman said the fire had started in the basement and the three people inside had taken refuge in an upstairs bedroom. After being helped to safety they were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
