Three women dead after horror road smash in South Yorkshire

Three women have been killed and a man seriously injured in a road smash in South Yorkshire.

The crash happened in Maltby, near Rotherham, at about 5.30pm yesterday and involved three vehicles.

A red Toyota Aygo was travelling along Tickhill Road towards Maltby when it was in collision with a black Ford Focus heading in the opposite direction.

The cars were also in collision with a van that is thought to have been leaving the Maltby colliery site.

The 58-year-old driver of the Aygo and her two female passengers, aged 66 and 76, suffered fatal injuries. They were all from Doncaster.

Police said the 28-year-old male driver of the Focus was seriously hurt. The man driving the van was uninjured.
