Tide warning after five rescued by lifeboat at Flamborough

Flamborough RNLI said its lifeboat was launched yesterday at 6.44pm after reports of three people cut off by the tide around the North Landing area.

The lifeboat proceeded round to the West Scar area of North Landing where upon further inspection the Coastguard informed the lifeboat that there were five people in need of help.

Once all the casualties were accounted for, the lifeboat evacuated them safely from the rocks onto the beach.

Flamborough RNLI was then stood down and returned to station at 7.18pm.

Simon Robson, helmsman for Flamborough RNLI advised people to be aware of tide times before they go to the beach.

He said: “Always check the tide times before you venture out along the rocks and in the caves and never judge the length of time you have left to get back to the beach by just looking at the waterline, the tide moves very quickly and it can be very deceptive.
