Tigers’ Evans follows Cairney to Blackburn

BLACKBURN have completed the signing of Hull City midfielder Corry Evans on a three-year deal.

The Northern Ireland international, 23, follows ex-Tigers team-mate Tom Cairney to Ewood Park after the latter joined on loan on Thursday.

However, Evans, younger brother of Manchester United defender Jonny, will not make his debut against Derby tomorrow as he has a groin injury.

The younger brother started his career at Old Trafford before
joining Hull on loan in January 2011.

His switch to the KC Stadium was made permanent the following July and over the past two seasons Evans has been a regular in Steve Bruce’s side, making 32 appearances last season as Hull won promotion back to the Barclays Premier League.

League One side Coventry City will start the new SkyBet Football League season in League One with a 10-point deduction after the League transferred their share to the Otium Entertainment Group.

Coventry City FC Limited yesterday failed to agree a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) with the owners of the Ricoh Arena, their former ground, and said in the aftermath that liquidation and a points deduction was expected. In a statement last night, the club said CCFC Limited would enter liquidation and that they had accepted the League’s points deduction.

The Sky Blues are at Crawley today but when they start their home campaign they will play at Northampton’s Sixfields ground – a move that was also ratified last night.

That comes as a result of the stand-off between the old CCFC Limited and Arena Coventry Limited (ACL), the owners of the Ricoh, regarding rent.

Blackpool have completed the signing of former Notts County midfielder Neal Bishop on a short-term deal.

Bishop, 31, has been training with the Tangerines throughout the summer and links up with former Magpies boss Paul Ince again. The former Scarborough, York and Barnet man has agreed a five-month contract until January 2014.
