Prince Harry was among those showing support and said his attendance was never in any doubt, particularly since the marathon raises millions of pounds for charities backed by the Royal Family.

American Ken Parker, 58, said: “You can’t let the terrorists win. You’ve got to stand up and be bold, be brave, and good will prevail.”
Three died and 180 people were wounded in last week’s blasts which are believed to have been carried out by brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, ethnic Chechens from southern Russia who had lived in the US for about a decade.
They are also suspected of killing a police officer and injuring another as they fled arrest.
