Toddler hit by car suffers broken leg

A TODDLER suffered two fractures to his left leg after being struck by a car outside a Hull supermarket.

The two-year-old was hit by a black Renault Clio in the car park of B and M Bargains on Oslo Road at about 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon. It appears a member of the boy’s family picked him up from the ground after the incident and indicated to the driver that the youngster was all right.

The driver left the scene and details were not exchanged. But when the toddler was taken by ambulance to hospital, it was found he had suffered the damage to his leg.

PC Steve Carmichael, who is leading the inquiry, said: “The driver is aware he was involved in a collision with the little boy, but he is unaware that any injuries were sustained and so I am keen to locate him in order to assist with the investigation into the collision.

“It was very busy in the car park at the time and I am sure many people will also have seen what happened, so I would ask them to get in touch as well.”

Police have asked the driver, who was wearing a red sweatshirt, or anyone who knows him to contact officers on the Humberside non-emergency number, 101.
