Toddler ‘suffers horrific facial injuries while in nursery care’

The boy, who is about 14 months old, is understood to have suffered extensive injuries to both sides of his face during an “alleged incident” at the Little Stars Day Nursery, at Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education, on Tuesday, October 18. People who have seen the boy have described the injuries as “horrific”.

However, Humberside Police have confirmed that they have not been informed.

The college has declined to answer questions on the matter since being contacted by the Yorkshire Post on Thursday.

It said in a statement: “The Grimsby Institute Group is currently investigating an alleged incident that took place on 18th October 2011. We will make a further comment once the investigation has been concluded.”

The nursery had received an “outstanding” rating for safeguarding during an inspection by education standards watchdog Ofsted in May.
