A feast of top magicians will be paying tribute to the late entertainer at the organisation's 60th annual convention at Harrogate Theatre this Saturday and Sunday.

One of Britain’s best-loved magicians and TV performers, Daniels died aged 77 earlier this month of an inoperable brain tumour.

The Northern Magic Circle's current president Danny Hunt said the event was a great chance to remember one of the greatest magicians of all time.

He said: "It's not only an important anniversary for the Northern Magic Circle, it's important to dedicate this milestone to the memory of Mr Paul Daniels."

It's a quick return to Harrogate Theatre for Danny who performed there recently with fellow magician Stephanie Clarke as part of the double act Amethyst in a guest spot at the grand final of prestigious talent contest, The Big T.

The convention will see a host of performers from around the world and master magicians from TV and theatre all performing on Saturday and Sunday.

And it's not just an event for magicians, there are two public performances taking place over the weekend.

Among the acts appearing this weekend will be TV's John Archer, who was the first man to fool the legendary Penn and Teller; time-travelling illusionists Morgan and West and The Magic Circle's young magicians of the year, Destiny.

As well as star-studded lectures from Andi Gladwin, Paul stone, Morgan and West, and Luke Jermay on the art of magic, there will also be a children's show.
