Tories may put VAT up to 20pc
A Conservative government would be ready to consider increasing VAT to reduce Britain's national deficit, shadow business secretary Kenneth Clarke indicated yesterday.
There has been speculation a Conservative government may increase it to 20 per cent. Mr Clarke said shadow chancellor George Osborne was “bound to look at VAT” when considering options.
